Being online is an integral part of children and young people’s lives. Social media, online games, websites and apps can be accessed through mobile phones, computers, laptops and tablets – all of which form a part of children and young people’s online world.

The internet and online technology provides new opportunities for young people’s learning and growth, but it can also expose them to new types of risks.

Online safety forms a fundamental part of Ramsey Manor's safeguarding and child protection measures.

We teach children how to be safe online. It is important that children are aware of the good it can be used for and the dangers and risks it also poses. In school, we follow the Purple Mash Computing curriculum which covers online safety in each year group. 

All children learn how to stay safe online and are taught the following:

• Tell a trusted adult if anything happens online that is worrying, upsetting or they don’t understand.
• Be nice online
• Keep personal details private
• ThinkB4Upost, send or forward
• Do not share passwords
• Don’t meet up with anyone you know only online, and tell a trusted adult if someone asks
• Be careful with a webcam and social media
• Remember websites, games and films all have age restrictions.
