Our last inspection at Ramsey Manor Lower School was on the 24th & 25th September 2024. Please see below our full Ofsted report.

There were many positives highlighted during the inspection: 

- "Pupils, staff, parents and carers are extremely proud to be part of this school. Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the commitment shown by school staff in providing a happy, nurturing place for children to learn."

- "Pupils’ behaviour across the school is impeccable. Pupils are highly motivated to learn and want to do well. Routines are very well established, which starts from the early years. Therefore, learning is not interrupted."

- "Reading is given priority here. Children are taught to read as soon as they join Reception. This is because the school aims for pupils to read fluently and without delay."

- "Pupils work hard to demonstrate the school’s values of ‘respect’ and ‘empathy’, which are interwoven across all aspects of school life. Pupils are kind to one another and respectful to staff and polite to visitors."

- "Pupils are extremely well behaved, and they show consistently positive attitudes to their learning. This starts in Reception where children are taught to share and collaborate. Pupils achieve well, and staff have high expectations of them."

- "Positive caring relationships exist between pupils and staff. Pupils explain that if they feel sad or have a worry that adults will listen and help them. This helps pupils to feel safe."

- "Pupils are taught about different faiths and cultures. They respectfully explain how fasting in some religions demonstrates self-discipline. Pupils learn about fairness. They know that people might be treated unfairly because of race or disability and that this is not right."

- "Staff speak highly of the support they receive from leaders to fulfil their role. Governors and trustees are ambitious and committed to the school. They have an accurate understanding of what the school is doing well because there are appropriate processes in place to check the effectiveness of the school."

- "There are a wide range of clubs on offer, including archery, football and cross-stitch club, which are very well attended. There are many opportunities for pupils to take on roles of responsibility. For example, pupils can become playground buddies or members of the student leadership team. Pupils are proud of their roles because they have been taught the importance of ‘helping others’."

Areas were identified in order to improve the school even further as we continue to strive to provide the best education possible for our students: 

- In the early years, all adults ensuring that they extend children's sentence structure and model vocabulary effectively. 

- In phonics, ensure that assessment is used effectively to ensure progress for all pupils. 

These areas have been targeted as part of our ongoing school improvement plan. 

Outcomes & educational achievement at Ramsey Manor Lower School are excellent and are well above the local and national standard in many areas. 

In 2025, 75% of our reception pupils achieved the good level of development at the end of the early years foundation stage, compared to 68% of pupils locally and 68% of pupils nationally.

In 2025, 93% of our year one pupils achieved the expected standard in the phonics screening check at the end of year one, compared to 79% of pupils locally and 80% of pupils nationally.

Key Stage One Outcomes in 2025:

• 88% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in reading at the end of key stage one.
• 77% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in writing at the end of key stage one.
• 80% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in mathematics at the end of key stage one.
• 71% of our year two pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined at the end of key stage one.

• 44% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in reading at the end of key stage one.
• 17% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in writing at the end of key stage one.
• 38% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in mathematics at the end of key stage one.
• 17% of our year two pupils achieved the higher standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined at the end of key stage one.
