Wellbeing (PSHE)
Empowering children to be safe, happy and heard.
Through our personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum we aim to provide children with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens. In providing children with an understanding of healthy and respectful relationships and appropriate boundaries, through Wellbeing lessons, we consider effective relationships and health education (RHE) to be a fundamental part of our approach to supporting pupils.
Wellbeing is lifelong learning about personal, physical, moral and emotional development. It teaches children to develop and form positive values, attitudes, personal and social skills, and increase their knowledge and understanding of how to make informed decisions and life choices.
The aims of Relationships and Health education at our school are to:
- Provide a consistent standard of relationship and health education across the school
- Help pupils develop feelings of self-respect, confidence and empathy
- Promote responsible behaviour
- Create a positive culture of communication around issues of relationships
- Teach pupils the correct vocabulary to describe themselves and their bodies
- Prepare pupils for puberty, and give them an understanding of the importance of health and hygiene
- To provide all pupils with knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable them to make positive and healthy choices concerning relationships as they grow up and deal with risk
- Combat exploitation and help to safeguard our children
Wellbeing lessons play an important role in promoting Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) and incorporating British Values, to help all children tackle any issues which may arise in school, our local community and the wider world. We aim to ensure that Ramsey Manor Lower School provides a supportive, inclusive and caring environment, which will enable children to develop confidence to express their views. Wellbeing lessons are crucial in order to enable children to become responsible, healthy, safe and independent members of society.

Pride month assembly
We had a whole school assembly to focus on Pride month. We shared the story 'and tango makes three' and thought about how the different characters in the story showed pride. We remembered that we are all different and that is a wonderful thing.
British Values assembly
Today in assembly we spoke about British Values. We then shared the story Proudest Blue by Ibtihaj Muhammed.
