At Ramsey Manor Lower School our pupils have an important role to play in issues that affect the children themselves. We value the opinions and suggestions made by pupils and encourage them to be responsible members of our school community. Two representatives from each class are chosen by their peers to represent them and they are appointed to the Student Leadership Team that is overseen by Mr Moore. 

The Student Leadership Team discusses ideas and suggestions to make the school a better place. Minutes are taken of the meetings and these are shared with the Senior Leadership Team.

The Student Leadership Team act as a voice for all of the children in school and they have collected some ideas from their friends in their classes.

The children have been learning how to run an effective meeting with councillors taking on different roles in each meeting such as chairperson or secretary.

Our school's Student Leadership Team recently had an enriching and insightful visit to the heart of British democracy: the UK Parliament and Westminster Palace. The trip provided an incredible opportunity for our student leaders to explore the historical significance of the Houses of Parliament and gain a firsthand understanding of how laws are made and how democracy functions. This immersive experience, which included a guided tour and interactive workshops, has been instrumental in shaping their work back at school. They've returned with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of effective communication, collaborative decision-making, and the importance of representing their peers' voices. The team is now applying these invaluable lessons to their ongoing projects, from enhancing student welfare initiatives to organising school-wide events, ensuring that their efforts are more democratic, transparent, and representative than ever before.
